Jacqueline Fernandez hails from Manama in Bahrain. She grew up within a multiethnic household. Her father Elroy is from Sri Lanka (Catholic Sinhalese) and her mother, Kim, a Malaysian. Her brothers are elder and two younger brothers. Her parents moved to Bahrain in the late 1980s as a result of the Lankan turmoil and she was born and raised in Bahrain. After completing the schooling in Bahrain she won a Scholarship to the University of Sydney to pursue the Media and Communications Degree in Sydney, Australia. Passionate about different cultures and languages led her to join the Berlitz Language School, a school in which she mastered French as well as Arabic as she learned Spanish. In 2006 she was named the Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe 2006 in March 2006 and also competed at Miss Universe 2006. Following her win of the Miss Sri Lanka title in 2006, she took on the world of television. She anchored a show on Sri Lanka's business known as Lanka Business Report. Padukone was her mother was the famous badminton star Prakash Padukone, was born in Copenhagen and raised in Bangalore. In her teens, she played in national level badminton events, but she backed off the sport and became a designer. Padukone is from Mangalore, and her native language is Konkani. Padukone is located situated in Kundapura Taluk located in Udupi in Karnataka State in India is where her lineage is derived from. The father of her, Prakash Padukone, is a retired badminton player of international repute, and her mother is a travel consultant.
